It's a short-range IR sensor. In other words, the system itself works with signals that are easily detectable, as they are of the yes/no type

Distances of around 6cm are detectable with this system

The ON/OFF function is controlled by approaching obstacles. When the obstacle is placed in the detection area, the sensor detects it and switches the light off. The light will always be on as long as the sensor does not detect it within the above distance.

Items it can detect: all types of solid materials, e.g. wood, metal, glass, bricks, etc.
